ABOUT OUR PONDS

     LEDGENDS, LORE & LIES

The Brook Trout Pond
PHOTOS This is the largest of our three ponds. It is located by The Caddis Shack. A wooden dock and perimeter path provide excellent bank access. There is also a gravel wading bar and several large casting rocks. Cold-water springs continuously feed this beautiful pond, maintaining an optimum temperature for wild trout, except in the mid-summer months.

The pond has a self-sustaining population of wild trophy-sized brook trout, as well as browns and rainbows, stocked as fingerlings. Many of our brook trout weigh 3-5 pounds, with an occasional larger fish. Recently, a 7 pound brook trout was caught in this pond.

The Flat Rock Pond

PHOTOS   Although near The Caddis Shack Pond, this is a warm water pond, containing largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, hybrid bluegills, rainbow trout and a good forage base of fathead minnows and golden shiners.

A fish census at this pond in the spring of 2005 turned up stripers in the 18-20 inch size and 7-9 inch bluegills. The current record bluegill is 11 inches, caught in March 2006, on a dry fly.

This pond is the perfect choice for the fisherman who simply must fish when the weather is too warm for trout.

Chimney Hollow Pond

PHOTOS    Our other trout pond has a healthy population of brown, rainbow and tiger trout, stocked as fingerlings. Several of our clients have caught and released brown trout over 26 inches. The record brown trout is 28 1/2 inches, caught in 2005.

The name of the pond derives from an old cabin site, whose history is unknown. A portion of a standing chimney still remains.

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to liability issues, children on the property must be 12 years or older. Thank you for your understanding.
