Conewago Flyfishermen manages two miles of private water on Conewago Creek, in western Adams County, PA. We are located about 8 miles northwest of Gettysburg, and our water parallels PA Route 234. We also have 1/2 mile of water on Marsh Creek.

Conewago is a Lenni Lenape word meaning "Land Of Rapids".

Our stream is freestone pool-and-pocket water, with 42 pools and 42 riffles. We have wild browns, rainbows and an occasional wild brook trout. Every year we have members who catch wild browns over 20 inches. The wild rainbows have reproduced in the stream since 1995. They are seldom large, but are extremely acrobatic and colorful. We also stock 20-30 large, lake-raised wild brook trout every year.

We have hatches of Blue, Black and Red Quills, Hendricksens, Quill Gordons, Blue Winged Olives, Little Blue Winged Olives, March Browns, Slate Drakes, Sulphurs, Cahills and Brown, Green, and Yellow Drakes. As on all streams, these hatches can be profuse or nonexistent, varying from year to year.

Some members fish an Adams or a Wooly Bugger all year, and do quite well. Other
successful flies include Renegades, Mr. Rapidans, ants, beetles, San Juan Worms, yarn eggs, Clouser Crayfish, Hornbergs, Zonkers, Wooly Worms, Wulffs and Humpies of all kinds and colors, assorted stimulators, Matukas, Mickey Finns, Griffith Gnats, Cayhills, Sculpins, Muddler Minnows, Trudes, Picket Pins, Gold Ribbed Hare's Ears, Pheasant Tails, Princes and A. P. Black Nymphs.

Depending on weather and water conditions, fishing can be available year round. We strictly enforce catch and release and barbless or bent-barb regulations, as well as other stream-specific rules, which will be explained if you chose to fish the stream.

If you wish to fish Conewago Creek during your time at the Caddis Shack ponds, we offer a half-day guided "Show Me" trip for $80.00, with the full amount refundable should you decide to purchase a Club membership.

You may inquire about reservations for fishing on the stream when you call to reserve the ponds. You will be given full details at that time.
